Disabled mums are the quiet supermums
As the water trickled over the rocks and my kids explored the bush, their laughter mingling with birdsong, I sat quietly on the wooden seat, taking it all in. The peace, the joy - but also something else. My eyes welled up just as my independent support worker glanced at me. She slipped an arm around me and gave a gentle squeeze. I didn't need to explain what I was feeling but she already knew. That feeling is something that I think every parent living with a disability needs to hear and embrace. Like driving them to a birthday party, kicking a soccer ball in the backyard. It's crying quietly in the kitchen when disability and parenthood all feels too much.

Support at Home forms part of the new Aged Care Act , which gives older people more control over the care they receive. Services will be tailored to individual needs, preferences and goals, with greater opportunities for participants to make choices. What's new in Support at Home? The program introduces a range of changes to how aged care is delivered. Some key features include: Ongoing services with 8 funding classifications to better cater for a range of participant needs, with the highest now offering around $78,000 per year. If you care, you are halfway there
Do you find it personally rewarding to care for someone? Do you spend time helping those in need, whether it’s running errands, shopping for groceries or helping people keep their homes clean? If this is you, you are part of the 71% of Australians who have caring qualities and who could potentially earn income as an independent support worker through this work. However, they may not have the opportunity to leverage these for financial stability, career satisfaction and happiness. With more than half of Aussies saying caring for others makes them feel happy (56%), fulfilled (49%) and rewarded (43%), it’s no surprise that almost half give back (49%), and two in five are already completing volunteer work (37%).  However, 55% say they would like to volunteer but cite time, not knowing where to begin and needing to prioritise money as barriers. A career in care brings the fulfilment of

YOUtax: Everything you need to know before lodging your tax return

In Australia we have what is called a progressive tax rate system. This means that when your income increases, your tax rate may also increase or progress to a higher tax rate. Understanding these tax rate thresholds will help you to plan for how much tax to save, to then pay the ATO. Below are the income thresholds and the rates of tax you will pay. You must also remember
