Understanding the Support at Home program
Learn about Support at Home funding, the aged care program that replaced Home Care Packages.

What is Support at Home?
The Australian Government's Support at Home program launched on 1 November 2025 and replaced the Home Care Package and Short-Term Restorative Care programs.
The program is in response to the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety and includes key updates, such as more funding levels and newly defined service types you can access.
What you should know
The Support at Home program aims to create a flexible, personalised, and more supportive system for in-home aged care so you can live independently in your own home longer.
The Support at Home program includes a defined service list. You will be assessed on the services you need, as outlined in your care plan.
Your annual funding amount is budgeted across four equal quarters. If you don't use all of your quarterly budget, you can carry over up to $1,000 or 10% of what's left, whichever is greater, into the next quarter.
Support at Home has 8 funding levels, known as classifications, offering a more detailed scale of care needs. Learn more about the 8 classifications.
As a Support at Home recipient, you make co-contributions based on the services you're receiving and your financial situation, but daily and annual fees will no longer apply. Learn more about participant contributions.
